Spring is here! I would like to just give you a few reminders as we begin the new season. As the weather warms up please remember that students should come to school dressed comfortably and clothing should be in line with the PWCS Code of Behavior.  Children may want to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt to leave in the classroom because the air conditioning does get rather chilly.  Also if your child has allergies be reminded that we cannot administer medication without the proper paperwork submitted by the doctor or parent.  CHILDREN CANNOT TRANSPORT MEDICATION TO AND FROM SCHOOL! It must be dropped off by an adult.  During this time of year we do go outside more often for recess so children should remember all playground rules and to always be safe.  Please send a water bottle to school so children can have access to water.  I cannot send them into the hallway throughout the day for water.  We have a fountain located in the classroom.  Students can refill their bottles throughout the day at appropriate times.   

Welcome Back! 
I hope everyone has had a safe and wonderful spring break! As we return from our time off it is now time to program ourselves for the upcoming SOLs.  Students should be studying all activites that come home as well as working on the school websites for reinforcement.  In May (dates will be forthcoming) the students will be taking the last 3 SOLs.  Math, Reading and Science.  Please note that the Science SOL consists of 4th and 5th grade objectives. The children have been given a  science study packet to review daily.  As we work together the WILL succeed! Please contact me with any questions.

The Writing SOL is fast approaching.  As we come upon the test please have students practice all activities that are coming home.  The children will take a multiple choice portion as well as write a prompt.  This will occur over two days.  Remind your children that they should take their time and not rush to get the test completed.  They have all day to complete the test.  Our goal as a class is 100%.  I believe that each and every student will pass with the concentration and determination that they show everyday.  As we all work together the children will do a phenominal job! Thank you for all your help and support from home!!

Because of the Multicultural ceremony and practice, the Fraction Unit test has been rescheduled until Tuesday December 15th.  Thank you..

Students should be working on Compass Learning and Study Island 3 times a week at home.  Working on these activites will help strengthen and reinforce skills that we are learning in class. 

Winter Break begins on Wednesday December 23rd.  Class is in session for a 1/2 day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.  Enjoy the break! See you next year!
